Surviving Victims of Violent Crimes, Is a support group for other survivors, family's & friends that have had their lives changed forever by violent crime.
James Alt is a Southern California native. Having survived a violent crime 45 years ago, he understands intimately the lasting effects that such a trauma can have on one’s life, both physical and emotional.
At the age of 17, James was brutally attacked and left for dead; his girlfriend lost her life on Torrey Pines State Beach in San Diego, California. James suffered a major head trauma requiring reconstructive surgery to his head and face.
Not only did he survive the horrific events of 1978, he has also survived bouts with depression, survivor’s guilt, PTSD, anxiety and suicide attempts. Although this crime was headline news of the time, this violent attack still remains unsolved today.
While still on his journey toward healing and resolution, James plans to actively advocate for others whose lives have been devastated by violent crime.
He champions for victims rights and founded the Facebook page “Surviving Victims of Violent Crimes,” a place for others who share a commitment in raising awareness, and bringing to light the services and supports available to other victims of violent crimes.
